First Community Action

LoCoA’s first documented action took place at American Legion Post 111, commonly known as the Edmond American Legion. The building required immediate attention due to a wildlife issue that needed to be resolved quickly and safely.

The Edmond American Legion serves veterans and community members throughout Edmond and the surrounding Oklahoma City metro area.

The work was carried out by Wildlife X Team Oklahoma City, a founding business partner of the Local Community Alliance. The squirrel was safely and humanely removed without harm to the animal or anyone inside the building.

Preventative measures were also completed to ensure the issue would not return, helping the American Legion continue serving veterans and community members without disruption.

From the American Legion

“We’re thankful this issue was resolved before it caused more damage,” said Doris Heald, a post officer with American Legion Post 111. “I’m grateful that the Local Community Alliance exists and that Wildlife X Team Oklahoma City was able to step in and take care of the problem.”

What This Represents

This first community action represents the beginning of the Local Community Alliance.

LoCoA was created to document real community action as it happens—providing transparency and accountability around how local businesses and nonprofits work together to serve their communities.

The alliance currently includes five local businesses and is actively working with nonprofit organizations in Edmond and across surrounding Oklahoma communities.

Moving Forward

The Local Community Alliance will continue documenting community actions as they occur, building a growing public record of service, accountability, and local impact.

This launch marks the start of an ongoing effort to strengthen communities by connecting those willing to help with those in need—and by showing that giving back benefits both the community and local business.
